The official language of Turkey is Turkish. Language can be a hurdle, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Google Translator helps ease the burden by allowing you to copy and paste text, take pictures of signs, or use conversation mode to translate from English to Turkish or vice versa. Also, there is a phrasebook where you can save commonly used phrases and sentences and use the app offline. A must when you’re traveling to Turkey.

Duolingo

Seek by iNaturalist

Seek is an app for nature and animal lovers. When traveling in Turkey, you’ll see so many beautiful plants flowers, and species of animals that you haven’t seen before. With Seek, you can snap a photo and the app will tell you the species name, the range of where you will find it in the area, and if it’s a plant, the seasonality.

Also, when you open the app, it will tell you what animals and plants are in the area you are in. Our kids have loved this app as we’ve hiked and explored seeing new things for the first time.
